Projet
DESCRIPTION

Mocak, the new Museum of Contemporary Art of Krakow, built on the site of the former Schindler’s Factory, with a project poised between memory and future, opens a new major chapter in the cultural life of the city.
The industrial mark, evoked by the typical saw-tooth roof of the buildings to preserve, has represented the icon that has inspired the whole project. A10-meter high wing of crude, industrial concrete acts as manifest and junction between the main road and the meandering sequence of itineraries and exhibition pavilions that leads the visitor deep into the area. A new architecture, weightless and gleaming, the dark fibre concrete cladding and the saw-tooth roof in titanium-zinc embrace the existing buildings and the new pavilions and combine them in a unique organism.
The building is diffuse and not monolithic, characterized by the harmonious sum of many requirements, such as the need for strong overall visibility and the aesthetic and functional integration of the existing structures.
In fact, a choice was made for a building that did not surpass the height of the existing buildings, entering instead into a dialogue with those structures through the common denominator of the factory roof reference.
The new building unfolds on two levels, the ground floor (height 390cm) and also, by necessity, a lower level (height between 450 and 600cm). It is completely independent from the existing buildings for reasons of safety and static load.
The disposition of the spaces is already clear from outside the complex, highlighted by the anthracite grey wall in resin-cement which gestures from the entrance plaza, drawing the visitor into the museum itself through the glass facade to the south.

CLAUDIO NARDI

Founding Principal An in depth vision of the ideas and projects of Claudio Nardi, explored through an extended interview and short tales about the genesis of various projects presented. The architect tells of his beginnings as an interior designer, of the direct and profound collaboration with artisans, of his working with Carlo Scarpa, of his passion of mutating architecture.
There follows a selection of works: from projects for the fashion world, to museums, from minimal space of the intimate and domestic to large scale architecture, everything encased by graphic design, photography and sketches.

MIDEA SMART CITY OF NAN'AN, FUJIAN
SIMPLICITY AND RETURN TO NATURE
DESIGN CONCEPT:
"Less is more"-Collision between minimalism and nature to reveal the beauty of ecology in modern spaces.
DESIGN DESCRIPTION:
This case is located in Nan'an,Fijian province. A city with long history and talented people. The city is also known as ‘WuRong’. Nan’an was set up here since the Three Kingdoms period, it has been standing for nearly two thousand years. The area seats along the mountains and by the sea. After several decades, this area developed its own regional cultures, generation and gathered talented people. Thus, it is honored as “Zou and Lu on the seaside” .
The designer follows the concept of "Less is more". In this case the solution is through minimize interior decoration. In order to create an in-out experience and a sense of richness. The picture window is used to draw the exterior architectural garden features, natural light and the mountain valley into the interior. "Less is more" is quoted by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the 1930s. This is a design concept that encourages simplicity and opposes over-decoration. Often, people enjoy simple thing because it creates a sense of peace. In the space, line, shape, surface and materials are designed carefully to present this concept. Therefore, the design proposal is a result of minimalist and modern design framework. Overall, by following the minimalist concept, the space convey a simple, integral and grand feeling to the public.
The two-story space connected by the picture window provides a visual treatment to the viewers with spatial enlightenment. The designer intended to use window as a medium to connect the exterior landscape and the interior space. Thus, the design allows the users to define their own unique experience from its perspective.
The design of the bar area in the center is outstanding which reinforced the relationship between the interior features and the exterior landscape. So that the space build connection with the nature. Designer focus on detailing and the selection of materials. Through design addition and subtraction techniques to reach a balance between richness and simplicity.
"Less is more", the meaning of minimalist design is to reduce complex design techniques. The combination between architecture and interior space brings people inside and let them become part of it. Therefore, the connection between human and space, human and nature, human themselves become stronger. Overall, the impact of the space is relaxing and readable.

Projet
description

VThe theme of this case is the "collision between East and West and the combination of tradition and modernity." The overall design takes the simple nature as the main tone, manifests the post-oriental culture feeling. The green and red play the key role in the hardness. It embodies the relationship between the primary and the secondary, and also gives the luxury of eastern implication: from the surface to the inside, implicit but not arrogant. .
The whole fixed decoration and furniture wall cloth of the living room choose the mild warm tone, the whole space atmosphere is steady and shows the strong artistic and cultural taste. The spatial structure's high pattern brings the generous shock and permeable activity. There is no interval partition in the space, and the large space is convenient for meeting interaction, open and comfortable.
The selection of the whole material is based on the texture of the natural wood skin and the delicate black alloy lines, and the space background is based on grayish white wall cloth and natural hemp stone with two kinds of textures, which enriches the level, also sets off the quiet and elegant, natural and united space atmosphere. The overall design mode and the space expression result present a kind of vague, implicit eastern impression, natural purity that the western modern and the oriental element each other impregnate and intersperse.

Projet
description

The building is located at the corner of a busy intersection where office towers and lower residential units meet. The small scale of the volume compared to the surrounding buildings invited to create a design simple and in the same time conspicuous. The building just kept the structural elements of the previous construction and its now hosting a bar and restaurant.
The regular volume of the building alternates solid and semi-transparent surfaces aligned with the neighbour delimitation. Only a dark steel box protrudes out to sign the entrance. With a mirrored approach, internally the functions and circulation are arranged around a play of solid boxes and carved out spaces.
The façade design controls the privacy of the interior space by alternating wood louvres with solid white stone while the steel box of the entrance hides a secret Japanese garden that trespass the slab on the second floor.
On the ground floor, the space is arranged around three main material volumes: the steel box of the entrance and the Japanese garden, a white terrazzo box that hosts the restroom and the access to the service area and finally a wood cube that separates the whiskey bar from the reception area. The boxes are detached from the ceiling which is the bare concrete slab of the second floor. The soft seating area enjoy the privacy provide by the louver façade but it still has a view on the streetscape. A small garden in between the louver and the glass façade enrich the corner of the lounge while increasing physical distance to the busy street.
The bar is placed inside a wooden box to increase the privacy one level more. Comfortable seats and a low counter convey a relaxed environment.
The second floor instead follow the spatial organization of two concentric cubes: an inner core in wood which host the kitchen and the dining rooms of the Sushi Restaurant and an outer volume in white stone as the façade that distributes the circulation of the costumers to reach the sushi bar and the VIP room.
Another Japanese garden is an unexpected treat for the guest of the Sushi Bar. From inside, the view enjoys the beauty of the garden as well as the busy cityscape filtered by the wood louver of the façade.

Zibo Health Park – by Cosmos Architecture

Projet
Introduction

The project consist in inserting a sinuous architecture volume in a betulla forest in the countryside of Shandong province. The functional program of the building focus in a medical diagnosis clinic, for these reason we found it interesting to be able to hide the building and create a disconnection where patients can be calm and abstain from the noise of the streets and the near city.
The pavilion is divided into three parts: the clinic, the exhibition area and the sales area.

Projet
description

The materiality chosen for the exterior is white since this color is used in architecture mainly for his three properties: purity, simplicity, sensitivity to light. Monochromatic color par excellence and enhancer of pure materials. For the interior, the combination of wood and white has been chosen for the sales and exhibition areas, providing a different warm atmosphere in the more public areas. While for the clinic area, which is the one with the largest surface, has the white elements to define the aesthetic of elegance and provide a high level of comfort inside
In addition, the white curved volume of the project is also slightly raised above ground level, to give the building a certain prominence and monumentality from the flat surrounding.
The ground floor is all glazed so permeable in view and lighting, since we have located the public program and we were looking for a direct connection to the forest, while the first floor is perforated with a small continuous window. The project during night show from far a subtle and continuous light line in the middle of a forest to catch the human eye and the people passing by.
