Design of Residential Space
Project
Introduction
Project Greenwood is also known as the “last house on the mountain”. The project is located in the Bavarian Alps, surrounded only by nature. The goal was to renovate an already existing part of a house and turn it into a luxury guest-space, which feels like a luxury hotel from which you never want to leave.
For that, we chose to work with mainly natural materials and color schemes to complement the location of the house as much as possible, and to have it blend it seamlessly when opening the windows. In order to achieve that, lots of custom-made solutions were needed, including a 4m high arch with shelves and a work desk, new floors, vintage barn doors, custom-made faucets and vanities, as well as carefully sourced art pieces and sculptures from across the globe, including pieces from artists such as Canadian-based sculpturer MayaRiver(PaperVivantArt), an artwork from the Migration collection from Kader Boly from Burkina Faso, as well pieces from the Little Volcanoes collection from SISU art.
Additionally, hand-knotted rugs from Middleway Gallery were included, as well as other design elements from brands such as Dusty Deco, FLOS, Ligne Roset, Noah living, and many others.Furthermore, we used a special mineral plaster on the walls for a rich texture which was applied by an artist, as well as we included customized roof windows from VELUX, to bring in more light into the space.
The biggest challenge at this project was that we were asked to work with the existing floor plans as much as possible, keeping windows, doors, and general room layouts. However, by adding different colors, new floors, and personal details, the existing spaces were transformed into a completely new world.
