Introduction
The piece is a unique combination of delicate flowers with aggressive centipedes and spiders, breaking the stereotype of pairing flowers only with leaves and butterflies, showcasing the ingenuity of the designers. Using 925 silver to create the insects and stamens, they combine hand drawing with 3D printing technology, electroplating titanium into a cold blue-violet colour. Complemented by warm and gentle jade pieces, the nippy metallic colour still emits an aura of danger, creating an intriguing contrast.
Beneath the soft petals of the flowers lies a world of monsters, and the harshness of the fibrolite cat's eye and tanzanite shatter the illusion. In totality, these elements create a delicate balance that appears harmonious but is as fragile as walking on thin ice. The stark contrasts and subtle harmonies have a powerful impact, serving as a warning to people to look beyond the surface of things and understand the essence of what lies beneath and caution them against being deceived by the allure of superficial appearances.
It is worth noting that to combine traditional Chinese culture with modern innovation and to breathe new life into an ancient work of art, the petals of this work are derived from a partially disassembled Chinese antique from the Qing Dynasty. Moreover, all the jade, metal and gemstone components of the piece can be easily disassembled and recycled, with the design team firmly upholding the concept of environmentalism.
