Project
Introduction
The project is located in Hankou, within approximately 3 kilometers of the three major luxury shopping districts in the middle China which includes the commercial development by Wuguang, Hang Lung, and K11, with the hospital of Tongji and Xiehe nearby. The development contains the total GFA of 660,000 sqm, including commercial space of approx. 50,000 sqm designed by the phoenix tree theme. There is parkland of approx. 20,000 sqm, enclosed by a large central landscape layout.
The project is originally the Hankou campus of China University of Geosciences, one of the four educational entities of the Wuhan campus established in 1987. The site is not only a place of cultural origin and talent gathering but also witnesses the century-long historical development of Hankou.
In terms of master planning, the project adopts an enclosed layout, but leading to create wider spacing between individual building. The main entrance on the west side connects to the community gatehouse, forming a ceremonial homecoming space. Various community functional spaces are laid out in an orderly arrangement on the plan, with children’s activity areas, elder gardens, and party spaces set up along the pedestrian homecoming route, and neighborhood interaction spaces around the buildings.
The facade design adopts a modern minimalist style, avoiding excessive decoration. Every design element on the façade is based on functionality, emphasizing an overall grand and simple style accompanied with the timeless classical proportions of elegant and detailed touches. The design of building base uses dry-hanging stone and aluminum panels while the standard sections use stone-like paint and metallic paint, and the top crown features a large area of metal mesh, creating a simple and modern style for the building elevation.
