Andrea Branzi, architect and designer, born in 1938 in Florence, where he graduated in 1966; he lives and works in Milan since 1973.
From 1964 to 1974 he was member of the group Archizoom Associati, first vanguard group internationally recognized, whose projects are preserved at Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione of Parma University; his graduation thesis and other projects are preserved at Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, CSAC in Parma, FRAC in Orleans.
He has been editor of the magazine MODO and co-founder and director of Domus Academy, first international post-graduate school of design.
Author of many books about history and theory of design, he has been curator of many exhibitions in this field.
In 1987 he has received the Compasso d’Oro award for his career.
He works in industrial and experimental design, architecture, urban planning, education and cultural promotion.
Until 2009 He was professor at the third Faculty of Architecture of Politecnico di Milano, and President of the Course of Interior Design.
He is member of Italian Design Council instituted by the Minister of Cultural Activities.
Scientific curator of the Triennale Design Museum, he has collaborated with the main brands of Italian Design (Alessi, Cassina, Zanotta, Poltronova, Olivari, Danese, Magis).
In May 2008 he received the Laurea Honoris Causa in Design by Università della Sapienza in Rome and in the same year he was named Honorary Member of the Royal Design for Industry in London.
In 2018 he has been awarded the Rolf Shock Prize by the Royal Academy of Art and Sciences in Stockholm.
He has lectured in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, United States, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand.
