Introduction
To attract people’s attention to increasingly serious environmental issues, this series of transportation cards, beyond its common functions frequently used in daily life, conveys the idea of harmonious coexistence between man and nature through its ingenious visual design.
Based on abstract expressionism, the well-chosen patterns on the cards, by means of simplification, deformation and reconstruction, transforms realistic ocean and forest images into dynamic scenes (surging waves in the ocean and undulating waves in the forest), with the signature colors (blue and green) of the two ecosystems as the main colors, leading to a sublime, expressive aesthetic and naturally evoking people’s emotional resonance with nature.
The subtly designed white sparse-to-dense gradient diagonals in the lower right corner use a precise 3D process for a better 3D effect, which, styled in a minimalist, striking artistic manner, suggest that human activities are causing progressive, cumulative and lasting damage to the natural environment, strongly emphasizing the precious and non-renewable properties of natural resources.
In addition, the recycled ingredients from the two ecosystems are taken as the main materials. The blue card utilizes PVC recycled from the ocean, while the green one adopts degradable PLA (a material taking starch extracted from renewable plants as the raw material), which reduces the consumption of natural resources and alleviates environmental pollution, further echoing the cards’ theme — environmental protection.
