Introduzione
The private residence is located at No. 48, Guoxin Haitian Mansion, Hong Kong West Road, along Hong Kong Road, Shinan District, Qingdao, with a sea-view flat of 400 square meters. The owner is a female fashion designer with unique aesthetics, beauty and elegance. Interestingly, she and I both admire Jean Paul Gaultier, a master fashion designer who is internationally known as the “fashion naughty boy” and has reached the top of fashion. Jean Paul Gaultier once said: “I can design anything, except boring formal clothes! Don’t try to find a model in my work, that’s impossible.” The owner and I both agree with Gaultier’s style of breaking the old and creating the new.
What a coincidence that on the day of the show, the owner’s sister and I both wore clothes designed by Gaultier. She wore a red Gaultier couture dress from 10 years ago, which was very beautiful and amazing! After meeting, we all laughed and thought it was a respect and tribute to Mr. Gaultier!
So at the beginning of the design of this space, I used a lot of Gaultier’s fashion elements in the soft furnishings. I don’t like to be limited to style, I think space is diverse. The owner usually likes to design new Chinese-style clothing. According to her preferences, I want this space to have both Western modern fashion and Eastern quiet emotional thoughts. The fusion of Eastern and Western elements shows a unique charm-the world is tangible, but the mind is boundless. Boundlessness is also the design idea I want to convey in the space. The furniture and lamps in the space are from Rochebobois, a French national treasure home brand. Rochebobois’s different series can always give people different surprises.
- For the entrance hall, I chose the VOLUTES side cabinet from the Rochebobois Classical Series. Classical furniture has aura and texture. The turquoise color of the exterior and the sky blue color of the interior give it a vintage fashion feel. I also specially chose an oriental Chinese cheongsam painting. The color of the painting is very coordinated with the cabinet, and it is layered when paired with the Chinese ornaments and vases. The collision of southern French style and the East is a highlight. The owner said that he liked the painting and the color of the cabinet very much, and he was very moved when he saw it for the first time when he came in.
The living room and dining room are based on white, burgundy and blue. The living room is a fun and relaxing space. We chose the MAHJONG sofa from Rochebobois. The sofa is flexible and can be DIYed. The fabric of this version of the sofa is designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. It is based on the theme of black and white movies. The fabric pattern has many classic symbols of Gaultier, lace, Breton stripes, and roses. The pouf and blanket are also Gaultier’s fashionable items, red dragon pattern and koi pattern. The burgundy red is used as a jump color, which also echoes the color of the restaurant space. The coffee table is SILVER TREE from Rochebobois. It is like a sculpture, and the ripples on the surface are like the waves of the sea outside the window. The flower art and ornaments displayed on the coffee table have a Chinese artistic conception. The flower art is mainly red and blue, and the pink unicorn has the meaning of receiving auspiciousness. The teacups and table mats are decorated with a combination of Seletti’s East and West patterns. The atmosphere floor lamp by the window of the living room is from CACTUS lamps from Rochebobois.
The floral art at the bar is dominated by pale pink lotus flowers, and the flower vases are white ceramic jars. The decorative painting opposite the bar was made by me, and it features classic clothing styles and iconic symbols from Gaultier’s shows over the years. The bar chairs are from the STEEPLE series of Fort Rochebobois, and the materials are a combination of leather and velvet fabrics. The inner fabric is dark green Cabaret premium velvet, which best reflects elegance.
The restaurant is very artistic and beautiful, with burgundy red as the main color. The dining table is a limited edition AQUA series of Fort Rochebobois, designed by Fabrice Berrux. The burgundy red version is limited to 200 worldwide, and this dining table is the 36th. The bottom of the tabletop has the designer’s signature. The dining table is like a sculpture, and the table legs are made of Rosso Levanto marble. The chairs are matched with Fort Rochebobois’s OPERETTE dining chairs. The wooden part is Martha red to match the burgundy red of the dining table. The fabric of the dining chair is a golden geometric pattern. The combination of gold and burgundy red makes you feel like you are in the modern era of 1920. The carpet is the COQUELICOT carpet of Fort Rochebobois, which looks like a blooming red flower and is very charming. There is a little surprise by the window of the restaurant. Fort Rochebobois’s Martha red LIFT BAR wine cabinet can also be used as a mini bar. There is a classic FLORIAN armchair in the corner of the restaurant, where I usually sit and stare at the sea. The fabric is also designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and the pattern has also been used in the Gaultier show. The little angels and the Virgin Mary are wearing the blue striped shirts designed by him, which are humorous, playful, rebellious and stunning.
The master bedroom is the most stunning and favorite space of the owner. Two MARQUISE DE L’AN classical Countess chairs from Rochebobois were selected for the master bedroom leisure area. Jean Paul Gaultier fabrics with blue and orange dragon patterns were also selected. At the same time, the classical side table between the two leisure chairs has blue and orange on the top of the table and the inside of the table legs, which makes the chairs and the side table connected. The strong color contrast between indigo and golden red adds a wild and rich oriental exotic style. The floor lamps and table lamps in this area are from Rochebobois’s MEI series, and their shapes are both French and oriental. The side table is matched with several ceramic ornaments with Chinese LONG elements and a tray inspired by Dunhuang murals. The bed in the master bedroom is from Rochebobois’s MAHJONG BED series. The fabrics are Jean Paul Gaultier’s golden and orange dragon patterns and coffee-colored cabaret velvet. The gold and orange make the space both fashionable and warm. The carpet in the master bedroom is also from Rochebobois’s MISSONI series. The pattern of flowers makes you feel like you are in a sea of flowers. There are also two pieces of furniture that create an atmosphere in the master bedroom, namely the screen and the hot air balloon floor lamp. The screen is designed by Christian Lacroix, and the pattern of birds paying homage to the phoenix also has a beautiful meaning.
The second bedroom is for the owner’s little daughter, and is furnished with a CALISON bed from Rochebobois. This bed is very cute, just like a French dessert. The carpet is a MISSONI purple striped carpet, and the smart leisure chair is like a fluttering butterfly.
This space is stylish and modern, with an oriental charm, and is the ideal home of the owner. Capturing the beautiful moments in life is an attitude and an art. Art has never been defined. It can be a painting, a vessel, a package, a piece of clothing, or even a sound or a performance. I firmly believe that the power of art lies in the fact that its expression is not limited or bounded. The world is tangible, but the mind is boundless.
